Tashkent, Uzbekistan - 08 June 2022: Since the adoption of its first competition legislation in 1992, Uzbekistan has supported the development of a competitive environment in national markets. This path has not been easy for a developing country and a formerly planned economy. Multiple reforms over the past 30 years have targeted improvements to both the institutional framework for competition policy implementation and substantive law and enforcement procedures.

This review analyses Uzbekistan’s current competition law and policy, including antitrust regulation, merger control and competitive neutrality, and provides recommendations for further improvements.
