Summary of the report
The new Global Forum peer review report rated Macau overall Largely Compliant with the EOIR standard, thus maintaining the same rating as in the previous review in 2013. The experience of Macau with the exchange of information on request remained limited but the jurisdicton significantly expanded its network of EOI relationships by the multilateral Convention.
Since the previous review in 2013, Macau has made a number of other improvements, including by abolishing bearer shares.
Further improvements are necessary concerning the availability of ownership and accounting information, both in the legislation and its enforcement, in particular concerning the beneficial ownership framework.
