This study provides a rigorous analysis of the social inclusion and well-being of young Moldovans using the latest available data and a multidimensional approach. Based on the results of the analysis, the report proposes a series of recommendations for the development of public policies in favor of youth.

This National Youth Survey of the Republic of Moldova was commissioned by the OECD to support the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Moldova. The Republic of Moldova one of the participating countries in the Youth Inclusion Project implemented by the OECD Development Centre and co-financed by the European Union. The survey and its report as conducted by the Center of Sociological Investigations and Marketing ”CBS-AXA”.

The OECD organized together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Moldova a multi-stakeholder workshop in Chisinau, Moldova, on the 02 December 2016. Representatives of ministries, international organisations, researchers and youth representatives discussed the preliminary findings of the OECD Youth Inclusion country study to feed back into the project cycle.

Since the proclamation of independence in 1991, Moldova has been in a phase of transition, which brings about significant economic restructuring and social changes. According to the National Bureau of Statistics of Moldova, youth aged between 15-24 accounted for 18.8% of the total population[1] in 2004 – this generation has great potential to positively contribute to the development and self-determination of the country, and the youth.
