Watch the webinar replay on Advances in Understanding Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances

The OECD Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) webinar series brings world experts together to share vital information and best practices regarding PFASs. These free webinars are open to the general public. Video recordings of our PFASs webinars are made available online afterwards. Register for an upcoming webinar or watch the video recordings of our past webinars below.

On 6 December 2022, the OECD organised a webinar to present the main conclusions of the report on Understanding Side-Chain Fluorinated Polymers (SCFPs) and Their Life CycleThe webinar also included a presentation of separate research on the Stratified Dipole-Arrays (SDA) theory as a way to better understand PFAS behaviour.

The new OECD report provides a comprehensive overview of the chemical identities of SCFPs that have been on the global market, including a non-exhaustive list of 103 SCFPs and 42 monomers. The report comes with a separate Annex comprising five spreadsheets providing the following information: substances identities, use information, PFAS-impurity studies, degradation studies and SCFP release.

Agenda:

  • Introduction by Eeva Leinala, Environment Directorate, OECD
  • Zhanyun Wang, Empa-Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research
  • Takeshi Hasegawa, Kyoto University, Japan
