Government officials, policy makers and experts discussed on 25 June priority steps for building back greener in the region. The discussion was based on the OECD policy brief “COVID-19 and Greening the Economies of Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia”.

Assessment of Investment Needs for Climate Action in Armenia

Estimates of how much countries need to invest to reach their climate targets can support their budget planning and their capital raising strategies. Comprehensive assessments of investment needs for climate action up to 2030 and beyond are missing in the South Caucasus countries as well as in most OECD member countries. The OECD has estimated investment costs in gross fixed assets for around 50 climate-related actions in Armenia.

EU4Environment Programme

The EU-funded “EU4Environment” Programme, launched in 2019, helps six Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, preserve their natural capital and increase people’s environmental well-being. It supports environment-related actions, demonstrating and unlocking opportunities for greener growth, and setting mechanisms to better manage environmental risks and impacts.
